Claudia Brevet from Inter Scaldes restaurant in Kruiningen has been named Hostess of the Year during the presentation of the GautMillau Awards 2018. ‘A brilliant hostess’ said GaultMillau. Buscaglione and Newby presented her with a beautiful prize.
Claudia is singled out for her passion, empathy and devotion in the new guide: “Forget the usual standards that are set for hospitality. Claudia Brevet just goes a mile further. Unequalled hospitality.” according to GaultMillau’s positive words. The award was a complete surprise for Claudia. “I really didn’t expect this.” Incredibly, Inter Scaldes has held two Michelin stars since 1984, when Maartje Boudeling was not yet the chef. The restaurant earned its two stars with chef Jannis Brevet and hostess Claudia.
GaultMillau presented its 2018 guide during the first evening of the professional exhibition Gastronomie/Fine Food Professional at the exhibition centre in Utrecht. the GaultMillau Awards were presented alongside the restaurant guide with points during the evening for the leading Dutch catering professionals. Jarno Eggen was named Chef of the Year 2018. “Chef Jarno Eggen is cooking more daringly than ever in Drenthe” writes the guide.
Restaurants are graded using a 20 point scale in the GaultMillau 2018 guide. the best restaurants in the Netherlands score above 16 points. Awards are presented annually for, among others, best chef, best sommelier and the best host/hostess.
